Atoka Memorial Hospital Adds MRI ServicesToday's Date -- 12/28/04 Atoka Memorial Hospital is now able to offer advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations through DMS Imaging as part of its continuing effort to offer the best in patient care. DMS Imaging registered radiological technologists will perform all MRI examinations. The MRI system has a 1.5 Tesla magnet and is manufactured by Phillips. This system will allow for high quality scanning with fast acquisition times. The MRI system will make it possible for Atoka Memorial Hospital to perform a wider range of diagnostic tests. MRI scans use computers and magnetic fields to create pictures of the human anatomy similar to X-rays, but without radiation. Currently, about 12.9 million MRI exams are performed each year – a number that is increasing annually. The mobile MRI system is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday January 4th and will service Atoka Memorial Hospital on Tuesdays each week.
